Wiring a wireless xbox 360 controller

I was wondering if anyone can help me wire a wireless xbox 360 controller. I really hate having to buy batteries and i really don't have money to buy a battery pack or cable so i would like to know if it is possible to hard wire the controller with USB so it can be plugged into the xbox for power.

Where are you based? Charge 'n play kits are a few quid here.

Yeah, play & charge kits are pretty cheap, so you're probably just as well off getting one. The charging cable itself isn't just a cable - it has some circuitry in it that talks to the controller, so doing it that way is out. if you want to connect directly to the battery terminals you have another problem in that it is designed for 3v (2x 1.5v) but USB carries 5v, so you'd have to use some kind of regulator circuit, which would likely cost more to make up than the play & charge.

They do make Wired controllers.

A USB cable and 3.3v Regulator isn't going to cost more than a PnC kit, but it will be a lot crappier looking.

or get a realy long usb cable (the one's for printer work perfect) then get a 220 resistor
then hook up like on this diagram
