I'm not sure if there would be any significant savings, though, because the gamecube is still drawing the same amount of power.

The power savings was the fact you are using a Gamecube with a 12v portable Dvd Player instead of a high power drawing CRT guys .

This is what i was thinking
and also your only using 1x 12 Volts not the 2x you would be using without second powerpack to use said portatble dvd player :P

im sure they both would still draw 12vs each its not like splicing the wires would eliminate the power requirements of each device right?

This is just me being a noob XD
i thought if it was coming from 1 outlet it would only be using the same 12v on the mains outlet/electricity meter/bill XD
as where to 2 diffrent powerpacks would come up as 24v thus costing more in electricity

When u buy ur electricity, you don't pay for the voltage, u pay for how much you use, ie wattage or ampage.

Wattage, not amperage, in kWh (kilowatt-hours). Usually 10 cents or so per kWh.

Voltage X Current hours = Watt-Hours
12V X 60Ah = 720 Wh (or .72 kWh)
(12v@1Amp for 1hr)
