My 360 "portable" blog

Hi guys, I'm fairly new to to whole console hacking thing as I really didn't realise the scene exsisted, after seeing some of the projects Ben has made on youtube among many other sites I pondered the idea of doing a portable myself, I had recently aquired a 360 that I was told to be faulty for free (started repairing RROD in my free time) off a mates housemate only to be called up a few hours later to be told it's fine, just an older model replaced with a newer one

So after using it as a DVD player for a month or so I decided to bite the bullet and use it as a base, after all I'm out of pocket by nothing so far!!!

so far I've constructed the chassis and rear panel for audio and video, I decided not to include a composite output as.. well it's 2010 ffs so I added a VGA port and 5 RCA ports for RGB component HD and Audio output along with a DPDT switch for the output selection along with a ATX port for the power supply, the monitor I'm using is a samsung syncmaster 710v which is a 17incher but not widescreen, not a massive issue as I can bring the borders in to suit and make 2 different front panels for the fascia.

I'll add some pics when I get chance, I don't mind constructive critisism after all I'm British

What are you using for a case? If you're interested I have some leftover expanded pvc from my laptop, plenty enough for a laptop (I'm only going to need half of what I have).

bassmasta - I might use polystyrene but I have a lot of polycarb lying around that I'm going to experiment with, there will be a lot of Carbon Fibre (fiber to US guys ) accents.

here are a few pics of the layout on the chassis which is 0.8mm aluminium, sorry if the quality is a bit off it's my new phone and the camera is quite.. well primitive.

finally the SATA cables arrived, a month after order, I taped the connections just incase, and marked up with tape other areas I still need to work on (getting old much)


as you can see the overall width in both dimensions can still be reduced and is not yet finalised, I'm currently working on the RF board, there's still a LOT to be done.

nah that's not me, you'll find me on car websites and the odd call of duty forum.

finished soldering the RF board a few days ago but couldn't test it, seems my falcon and jasper bricks just don't want to know this board should have left the power brick modding till last but hey you live and learn.
