I already posted this under another section, but thought it might be better to ask about this in the SNES thread.
I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with a malfunctioning SNES I got from a friend. The SNES games, with a few exceptions, don't seem to work at all on my system. "Pilotwings" starts up and the controllers appear to work fine, but the graphics past the title screen are scrambled to the point where the game is unplayable. "Super Game Boy" displays the SGB border but doesn't display game data from the inserted Game Boy cartridge. It doesn't seem to be a cartridge slot issue since I opened the case and cleaned the contacts already. Perhaps a PPU is unseated or dying.
Any help or insights would be appreciated. I can gather more info if it will help. If fixing this console is a lost cause, I'll probably donate the casing to a possible conversion of a netbook motherboard into an SNES PC.
