Old Current Gen Games

Post by ghosstt »

I stopped by play n trade today to see what they had, and ended up leaving with Fable 2 and Dead Space, with their 2 for $20 deal. I haven't played either before, so I'm excited to sit down and play some this weekend. What other games do you guys recommend? What older current gen games have ya'll been playing?

Note:: All of these are the PC versions. The newest console I have is my phat PS2, and the last game I bought for that was Tourist Trophy when it hit $20 in the Greatest Hits collection (which goes to show you how much I play consoles anymore). I do not recommend getting any Valve game on a console; you'll miss out on a world of mods, customization, and free developer tools.

Bioshock
Assassin's Creed
Left 4 Dead 1 & 2
Team Fortress 2
Half Life 1 & 2 and their addon games
Portal
Psychonauts
TrackMania United
Garry's Mod

For starters, I would highly recommend Mass Effect and BioShock. Both would seem to be up your alley given that you picked up Fable 2 and Dead Space already.

I started with Fable 2 for a little bit. It was alright, got up to the Abbot and his stuff. My one major gripe is the controls, and how your character moves. (Seems really loose and glide-y) Hopefully it picks up.

Dead Space ... Started it up, loved the menu screens, etc. Boot to the game, see the opening cut scene with you sitting in the chair. :o The lighting in this game, has to be THE BEST I have seen to date. (I've read about how they really took that into consideration during dev.) I haven't really gotten that far, just sent the other 2 on the tram. But for a 2 year old game, damn it seems to have help up. Only gripe: When you pop up your map, it zooms in. Would have been nice to have it stay out or choose to zoom.
