Vote for my first portable

Post by ghosstt »

OK, well, I think I'm finally going to buckle down and get some sort of portable done. (After being here so long, I figure its about time to get something done)

I've "narrowed" :lol: it down to these:

N64- Its a kickass system, what can I say. Lots of information on it, but at the same time, most extra parts are necessary to build it. (Voltage regulator, larger screen, bigger case, etc. plus the non-avoidable dying of the first n64 you use)

SNES/FCtwin- I've recently been getting into my SNES after having it for a while, and it seems like a cool system to do. Also lots of documentation from bens book.

NOAC- I'm really leaning towards this one, because of money constraints, and ease of use (hopefully) The only real problem is I don't own any NES games, and haven't played many at all. Could someone also provide a list of NOACs that work on playing NES games.

@MadHacker:
Real consoles are a pain to hack/chop if you are new to this like me or ghosstt.
Noac. Easy. Simple. Small. You can run a 2.5in (maybe 3in?) screen and a noac off a 9V battery or 2.
An okay noac:

The one I'm using:

Projects at the moment:
The FrizNES (Portable NES) *ON HOLD, Need a new NES*

I'm really leaning towards a NOAC in a gameboy case. I'd really like to use a gameboy color case, and I know I've seen it at least once. (Gannon I think? Maybe Skye?) If someone could tell me the NOAC that would fit into that, I'd be much grateful.

I know it fits in the DMG. The CGB would be a tough fit but should work.

If you've done work before with soldering and electronics, go for an N64. Otherwise, try an NES or SNES.
