super n64p

Post by seanmacdonn »

Has anyone ever thought of making a n64p as a team, kind of like an assembly line. I know some people are really good at making cases, others are good at making them tiny, and a lot of people are very innovative and add things to their portables that are mind blowing. Just a thought.

Way to much postage costs. Way to many people who "think" they are good at cases, soldering, etc. Way to many people who procrastinate and would flux it up by taking to long.

Etc , etc.

Exactly what hailrazer said. It'd be easier for one person to do it all themselves using compainies help.
EX: Polycase custom cuts the case, you order some ide and those thingies you plug into the cart slot, a custom battery pack from batteryspace, and a certain screen from AEIcomp. Now all you have to do is cut and rewire the controller, and a few other minimal connections, and your done.

so given everything that SS has said, what would be the ideal n64p. Lets say comfortable sized case, 5" screen from aeicomp,(or is a ps1 screen better?), nice speakers, small cut down n64, ect. and what is an ide?

Integrated Drive Electronics. aka IDE cable, which is the cable used to connect IDE type hard drives to the mother boards. (Also for connecting CD/DVD Rom drives, Floppy drives, etc. etc.)

Wow! I didn't know that! I always thought an Ide was the middle day of each month!

That's exactly what I thought when I saw the subject.

In answer to the topic: MAYBE something like this could go down again at MGC, but unless there were several members of the forum that lived in proximity to each other sharing a hack space or something of the like, I don't think it would go down.

So what parts would make the perfect portable? Lets think small, yet still retaining all the controlls. I'd say I like the PS1 screen with the LED mod, and cut down so the board is just as small as the screen itself. What else would people want to see on it?

That's only necessary if you can't fit the screen in without cutting. Don't make more work than is necessary.
