N64 powering with 4.8 volt battery

I was going to use two 4.8 volt rc batteries wired in parallel to power the N64 system. They're 2100 mah and I'm using a DC-DC converter to transform the power into 3 volts. Will this work or do I need some other batteries?

I know a 4.8 volt battery won't work I'm just a little confused on the battery diagram from Portable Systems of Doom after seeing the power pinout.

At the very lowest the n64 12v line will only take around 5.5v, and at this point it draws a lot more power. Get a 7.4v battery, it's the best and fairly cheap for a good one.

Explain. If its a standard 7805 I would have said 6.5 volts and less power.

When I did the power draw test it was running on less then 6.5, 5.5 is a very rough estimate. It draw a heck of a lot of power though. It could have been from the system already had the voltage running in it that kept it a live. I'm not sure exactly, it was for a fact running on 6v though, I can at least verify that.

if you bypass the 7895, you can probably input 4.8v since the 7895 outputs *gasps* 5V!

When you lower the voltage needed , the amps used will go up incrementally.
But overall there will be less power (watts) used.

With the Dreamcast you use 1900 mA at 7.4v but only 1500 mA at 12v.
So the amps used increase.

But the Power used goes down.
At 7.4v total powers is 7.4v(1.9A)=14.06 watts
At 12v the total power is 12v(1.5A)=18watts

See?

No, I gotcha now. I was telling Bacteria on his chat that with lower voltage, more amps will be drawn. But he later replied and said that, when there is lower voltage, less amps will be drawn, so I believed him . But no, you don't have to go through it again.
