People so far said that I should start with the battery part. I know which ones to use and all, but what I don't know is how i'm gonna wire this all up.

Can you use something OTHER than a psone screen? Just wondering.

When will you know that you damaged it, and how would you fix it?

Wiring up the contoller looks tricky. I'm too afriad to take off the plastic controller socket just thinking about it.

Relocating the cartridge seems like the easiest think I could do. Is it harder than it looks?

I know that the langth of the wire matters, but does it matter what kind?

Is it nessesary to have heat sinks?

I want all these questions answered, and more questions to come. Be patient with me since i'm still VERY new to this. How new? I took off the N64 casing with a flimsy saw!

If you want to know everything read everything however here comes the answers to your questions.

2.It doesn't work, reverse what made it not work or let it sleep for a bit

5.yes, thicker for power, smaller for signals. Someone else will say in a buildlog what is a good AWG wire or type of wire.

Finally it would have been better if you unscrewed the case, less chance of damage to the 64. If you don't have a gamebit try a bic.

dont start with the batteries, you can always use a power supply for that, I recomend getting the case made so at least when you've mounted stuff and wired it in you don't have to about it.
in regards to the screen, you have to look in the stickies and the reference section, hailrazer reveiwed 3, 3.5" screens which look really good-the only reason the psone screen is widely used is because its cheap for the size of the screen and it takes composite and RGB(and c-sync for pal users).
bacteria has made an excellent video log of him making an n64 portable, its pretty much foolproof.

like then brand of pen. Go to the store, buy a pack of those super cheap pens. You can use a lighter to melt the ends of them and then jam them into the screw holes on the N64. This will create a mold out of the pen around the screw so that you can unscrew it. Apply a lot of pressure as you unscrew it and there you go. You'll have to do this for all six screws.

Look up a tutorial on it to clear up any confusion.

probably because your pens have too soft of plastic. I use those pens that have the clear and hexagon shaped shaft instead of round. the plastic for those is usually harder and doesn't strip as easy. I guess just spend a few bucks and get the special screw driver or dremel around the screws

Sorry for double post, but I got another question. Is it ok to drill a small hole in the N64 motherboard? I want to because I want to hold the motherboard in with screws and not let it rattle around in the case once it's done.

I do but only on the edges in the ground area.
