HELP!!!! n64 mobo scratch short fix? and speakers

I accidentally scratched my mobo! it connects a large trace to the outside ground. Is there a way I can fix this???? this is my second n64 and i really dont want to have to buy another. It looks like this

could I possibly fill in the trace wall somehow like this? with something going in where the green is?

I found some of these lying around my house and I tried them on my power source and they worked fine. I would like to use them in my portable so I was wondering if they were too big and how I would get them open (if anyone's done it before).

It's just fine, as long as you didn't cut all the way through the smaller trace.

I'm not sure....the smalller trace is greyish (where it was cut) but when I turn it on, the screen turns off then on again like it normally does when it gets input but nothing shows up on the screen. I'm going to recheck my cart slot but If this cut isn't a problem I'll be very releived

I checked it with a multimeter and I'm getting 3.3v through the trace, so i don't think thats the problem. I started getting no picture on the screen (but I checked it with my xbox so I know it's not the screen) when I removed the controller ports. Do they have to be in for the n64 to work or something?

Have you seen the sixtyfree lite-r? If the controller ports had to be in for the N64 to work, portables would be bricks!

try checking all your voltages. Check your cart slot relocation. Check your jumps on the power switch. Check your video line. Check your mail.

Just make sure there's no shorts. Is your jumper pak facing the right way? Is it in at all?

Expansion Pak is in. My cart slot is glued over and it worked right before I removed the controller ports. I haven't removed the power switch if thats what you mean by jumps ( the wires connecting 1-2, 3-4 etc.) I could try somehow unglueing the cart slot from the mobo but I'm not sure how that would work.

It's probably not fried...

Can you check your video connection. You said in your worklog that you broke your speakers, so all it would take is a bad video connection to make it appear to do nothing.

wow....weird. so i replaced my expansion pak with a jumper pak and it all worked! This is very confusing. I'll see if there's something wrong with my expansion pak.


Put the expansion pak back in. Works with that too. Sorry for the false alarm guys but thanks for all the help

The jumper/expansion paks being funky is a fairly common and should be part of the troubleshooting every time a N64 refuses to work (link, see step 3). No idea why it works, but I know of several "dead" N64s that have been revived by doing that.

Instead of the ps1 screen speakers, can i just plug in any speakers to the screen? Or do I have to use the new speakers circuit board?
