Would I solder the Blue wire to the negative terminal on the circuit board of the battery and Red to the positive? And could I also use a 9 volt battery connector http://www.swe.org/iac/images/battery_lg.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; instead?

red there is positive and blueish/greyish is negative. - is negative.
yes, you can wire the positive to red and blueish to negative, but remember to have the 3.3v regulator there.
