PS2 Network Adapter

I got a PS2 Network Adapter (used) today at EBGames. When the sales person rang me up, I asked if I needed a disc or something, and he said, "No." I have the Network Adapter on my PS2 now, but I don't have it connected to my broadband connection yet. I am worrying that I can't use it because I don't have the disc. Do I absolutely need a disc? I have already contaced Sony, just asking here for a faster reply. Thanks for any help!

no most online games allow you configure the network setting within them once that is set it will work for all online games

Oh, good so the disc doesn't have a driver or anything?

Any reccomened games? I am thinking about SOCOM 2. What should I get microphone-wise.

Hook it up, play an online-enabled game, and see if it detects it. I don't see why it would need a driver disc, but early PS2s needed a firmware update to play some DVDs, so you might, but probably not.

no extra driver of firmwire needed the drivers nessasery are on all online gamedisks

edit:I have the ps2 usb headset it works fine with socom 2

I have a 30001 model, I don't feel like taking off the adapter to figure out the model.

BTW - It plays DVD's so I'm glad I don't have one of those.

Should I try to pick up a harddrive? What models are compatable (like Western Digital)?

Sorry, I'm such a noob to the PS2 (but not to repairing the disc drive!).

^no need as I have said all the disk that comes with it dose is save your network settings and a demo of freqency online verson

they will probubley tell you they do not suport stuff not got new or try to sell you the network disk

[imitating sony] yes, you need a driver CD to use your new network adapter. If you hads bought a new one from us, you would not need it. You can order a new driver CD for a million dollars from us, just send us a blank, signed check and we'll fill in the rest.[/imitating sony]

Really, Sony's support isn't all that great. My friend is running Red Hat Linux on his vaio laptop, and they told himn to go under the C:\Windows directory to search for a file.

Do NOT take this post seriously. I wanted to vent some sarcasm.

The DIsk for me set up a universal ISP thingy, but I think the games have that.
