I'm setting up an IBM AIX server for my website so that its cheaper then buying stuff and I get admin access unlike on PoD. It runs on the PPC platform. I have 5000kb internet so I think i can get away with a 500mhz computer. It would only be onwhen im home about 1800 - 600 hours eastern time
I run my webserver on a 400 mhz machine and I've never had any speed problems. I don't have plesk or anything installed though. (PoD has a plesk control panell (only accessible by abbibi though (or me in the case of gannon.tk)));
But wouldn't running a website off your own computer make it slower than what broadband users are used to? You'd think it'd run faster on a "real" server that's connected to the internet through T1, T3, etc.

You mean that's for more than just remote access terminals?
It'll assign you a DNS each time you turn on your computer and will cope with your ip changing. Sounds like exactly what you need - just substitute mm007.no-ip.org (or whatever DNS you get) instead of your ip address for the server you want to set up.

Just about any connection that is 1500kb or more is broadband and ususally you dont have a limit beyond the the cap your ISP has on its limitless.
If I were able to fix the problem with our Linksys router I'd set my Mac up as one. But I'm getting less then 1mb.
