Well a simple one you can just hook up left and right audio signals to the console, however you need a circuit to turn the speakers off when you plug it in. plus there would be no audio control on the headphones. So basically you need an audio amplifier with a headphone jack. I don't know of any other way unless you made a circuit to turn off the speakers when you plug it in.

Well then it's the same, except you just connect one signal to the headphone jack. You still need a switch though.
Re: How do you add a headphone jack?
I take it the screen you're using doesn't have one?
If you don't want to build an entire amplifier, you could use a headphone with a switch & an inverter to turn off the speakers

Re: How do you add a headphone jack?
Basically if no jack is in it's connected with headphone L and R, right? I took my multimeter and made a pinout (I think there was one somewhere, but oh well)

black is ground. Now; we want to use this jack (or something like it) independently. We need some way of detecting whether R or L is connected with the switch.(or - you know, to each other). This should not interfere with the sound, so here's my proposal:

I have not tested this! It should work, though. Unless there NEEDs to be a Vcc, which I don't think. I might test it later.
Edit: Actually this would effectively turn your stereo into mono... Unless you add some diodes inbetween the sound channels and the headphone jack, like so:

edit2: Actually the diodes would probably screw up the sound. Back to the drawing board.
edit3: There's more flaws with this. This is a crappy idea, just use an amplifier.

Ehhh, using something that was built for this purpose is cheating
