NDS Touchscreen Ribbon Troubles. :(

I was doing a shell swap for my NDS Lite and everything went smooth until I tried to lay this little black door back down on the ribbon. It popped off and then I tried to put it back on and it snapped in half. It's so damn small. I was wondering if there might be an alternative to buying another motherboard for $50. It would be a real waste if the new one just did the same thing anyhow. I need some ideas, anyone?

I tried a few kinds of tape, but it's a real pain trying to get it to hold the ribbon down just right, it just isn't going to work. Maybe a paperclip or something, if that won't hurt anything. I don't know.

You can use hot glue, would probably hold better than tape in this situation. Your paperclip idea might work, but make sure you use a plastic coated one to avoid shorting anything.

I'm guessing your soldering skills aren't good?

Because it looks like only 4 pins. Could use 30 gauge wire and hardwire it or buy a replacement zif connector and re-solder it on.

no, but if somebody just says tape, they are generally referring to adhesive tape. A tape measure has an extending tape, but it's not adhesive.

Yeah I don't have any soldering skills. I really wish I did right about now. I need to find someone who can I suppose.

There is also Teflon Tape, heat sealed tape, friction tape, etc.

A low temperature shouldn't. If you were to use hot glue, try using it as soon as it is able to be squeezed out of the gun. The trigger will be hard to pull.

Okay, that doesn't sound too hard... Thank you for the advice, I'll try it out probably tomorrow and let you guys know how it went. (Guess I should plug it in and make sure the touch screen responds before I apply it, lol)

Okay... it's extremely hard for me to get the damn ribbon in place. I taped the battery in place and got it to turn on with the case open, but it's not going well. I had my wife tap at the screen while I moved the ribbon around to see if it would respond. I'm fairly certain it has to boot with it plugged in so I was turning it on and off. It worked at least once and slipped off (just a tiny bit) and wouldn't respond again. I'd need like 8 hands to do this. Damn it! This is becoming a nightmare for me. Perhaps I will see if I can find a place around here that does circuit board work to help me. I really wish I knew more about this stuff.
