Xbox 360 Power Question

i just bought a 360 on ebay but i now realize that it has a xenon socket and it did not come with a power brick. i have a jasper power brick that i use on my primary 360 but would anyone know how to convert the socket on the 360 i just bought on ebay to jasper?

You can snap off the plastic in the connectors so it'll fit. It should power it without a problem, but the Xenon was meant to use up to 203w, while the Jasper power supply is only rated to output 150w. Others have done it, I wouldn't recommend it.

but is there any way i could convert my system to run off of 150w and only require that much?

Put a jasper board in that case.
The newer 360's got revised GPUs and CPUs, which need less power. No way to make a xenon use less. It may work with the 150w power supply, but you would be safest just getting a 203w power supply.

if i but a newer xbox 360 with jasper, it should be easier to portablize because it runs off 150w?

I'm just going to assume you mean a laptop .
The GPU is a 65nm die, which is smaller and allows for more heat efficiency, possibly allowing you more space (idk if the stock heatsink is smaller) and less cooling. AFAIK the motherboards are the same size. IMO, I think it would definitely help to have a jasper, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get one.
Actually, I just thought that a lower power usage could make it easier if you wanted to add batteries to it.

well i will be adding batteries to it so i think i'm going to sell this system and buy a jasper.

I like the battery idea.

It would be nice to incorporate a small internal power supply like this:

And include batteries, similar to a real laptop.

Thought it might be possible with the jasper chipset.

That power supply has no batteries, and probably couldn't power a 360 (360 needs almost all of its power as 12v).

These power supplies are only 1.6" high, so they are very small and compact if they can be used.

they should work as long as the ampage matches the 360. i have hooked up a psu to my 360 and it works like a dream.

The 12v line has to be able to provide ~12A for a Jasper, ~14A for a Falcon, or ~16A for a Xenon. The total watt output of the PC PSU means nothing for this purpose.

Yeah, I think I've found a good PSU. It's a flex ATX size and has 2 12volt rails. Each one carrying 16amps and it's a 300w power supply.

I'm using a Jasper unit, so this should be sufficient to power it.
