Intec PS2 controller with screen

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Intec PS2 controller with screen

Post by ShaolinDrunkard »

In most of the posts on this forum people are either looking for or using the hipgear screens. But if your looking for a similar product, dont count out the Intec version. You can find these a lot easier than the hipscreens in online stores and on ebay. I just found a few of them at ToysRus for 17.99 each. As far as i know the two are are similar products. The screens seem perfectly clear and the sound from the speakers is pretty good. And they are very easy to "hack" for a portable. I dont know if its just the ToysRus near my house or what but they seem to still carry a ton of intec stuff, so I think thats a good place to look. :o

They are 2.5" just like the hipscreens and by the way Dark Savant0 they really arent pieces of crap. I posted a this a few days ago under "hipscreen hookup explaination" but i was wrong, its actually for the intec screens. This is the simplest explaination i can give to hack one.
If you dont want to hookup regular rca wires you can just as easily solder
each wire to the respective pins on the board you are using. In my case i soldered(sorry if i spell it wrong) the video and audio wires to the pins underneath the regular outputs on my megajoy, that way you can still use the output to play the nesp on t.v.

The wires are as follows:
Orange:+12v
Black:Ground
White:Left Audio
Red:Right Audio
Brown:AG?
Yellow:Video

After you remove it from the controller, cut the wires coming from the
plug in the lcd. You can cut a regular rca video/audio wire for each of the video and audio hookups. You may have noticed that rca cables have an inner and outer wire. For the video just hook up the middle wire, for the audio use the middle wire to hook up to the red and white hipscreen wires, and (the following is key) or the video will be scrambled, HOOK THE BROWN AG WIRE TO THE OUTER WIRE OF ONE OF THE AUDIO CABLES. I have no idea what this wire is or does, all i know is thats how it works.

Did you detect my sarcasm? I was just kidding about the piece of crap.

Is that guide for a megajoy, or a reg nintendo, cause I am using the nintendo here.

It gets 12 v? Would it work with the schematics on nestable?

I bought one. The pinouts are the exact same ones as you posted, SDrunkerd. I recommend to everyone that they remove the screws on the lcd, if you still want to use the control. The wires are hotglued onto it.

I already got one for my PSoneP, but I'm going to get another one because I like the one I have and I want to be able to have multiplayer games without a TV. (Probably gonna modify it with standard AV inputs.)

Can it be successfully run on less than 12 volts? The PSone only uses 7.5-ish, and I don't want to use too many batteries. :D
