Putting LEDs on a battery for an n64 portable

If I want to put an LED on my n64 portable to indicate when its charging, and another to indicate low battery, how would i do that?

Some chargers come with an led on the charger it self, if you want on on the system, you can put an led on the charger line in series with the jack. The low led power is a little more complicated.
