Scanning motherboards

Post by Kyo »

I figured I'd scan a mobo to get a good picture of it

My definition of good is different. How do I make the picture not suck?

maybe yours isn't the kind that does it well. what about just taking a few closeups with a camera's macro and then merging them together? sorry. :/

I've found the reason for the bluriness in scans I've done to be height. The farther away the mobo is from the scanning bed, the blurier it gets. Remove the expansion slot and you should see better results.

I figured as much, but I was trying to get a good shot of the complete, unmodded mobo

Well there may be some settings you can play with to achieve what you're looking for but I'm not sure.

plus, there's always photoshop. add a good picture of the expansion slot after the board has been scanned.

Well if you are using photoshop anyways, then take a digital picture and use the lens correction tool in photoshop to make it perfectly aligned and square. I have a bunch of shots I did but its like 50 megs total and Im too lazy to upload right now...
