Hey, just passed by some really cool videos on youtube from joedog and jonjandran with really cool portables that they made. I found it really interesting and have old videos game consoles like the SNES and N64. I'm still really young and have not yet to have experience with circuiting and modding stuff, so I was wondering if there are any tutorials or even videos you guys have that could teach me how to do this? or if it's not possible for me lol

as for learning about this stuff, you can learn a lot by reading through the stickies in each forum section.

and i'm guessing that building portables require soldering irons

yep, ill just spend my time reading until I can buy a soldering iron I guess, or maybe I can stay after school and use the tech classes

not really. most of the members here are between 13 and 20. theres very few outside of that range.

solering irons are drt cheap

. Pick up a little tube of solder and an el cheapo soldering iron and try tinning bits of wire on soldering bits together, maybe try soldering bits of IDE cable to a dead mother board to get a feel for how the solder moves. It is plastered all over the forum but its worth saying again, start with a simple as your more than likely kill a few consoles and screens

. and dont spend a lot of money until youknow you are capable of doing something.
