Getting ready to start a PSportable

I have a PSOne (tiny version) a psone lcd screen, and a little bit of imagination. Now i'm not worried about battery power. If i go on any trips i can figure it out then. Mainly i work in a mall and my store is always dead....hence i need something to do. What differences are there in just using the standard wall plug instead of batteries? Is it easier to go this route or use batteries? I don't have access to a CNC machine and am not really worried about looks....just need it to work. I do have the book but i can't find any of the prints for make the handmade version...tho i'm prolly blind. thanks for the help guys.

EDIT: NVM i found the support files online. turns out the address was in the book. wow i'm a stooge. Anyway. As soon as i have progress i'l post pics.

well....i'm gonna need some suggestions. I don't have access to aluminum. is it possible to just use balsa wood for the whole thing? or do i try and form some bondo?

balsa will break very easily. Ask rekarp about using wood for cases. He is an expert on making portable with wooden enclosers.

I used balsa wood for the case of my first NESp. It worked fine until I dropped it onto a hard floor and the back of the case fell apart. A PS1 portable would be a bit larger, though, so I think you'd have to either use a larger thickness than the 1/8" I used or find a different material entirely.

You could use MDF, I've used 6mm MDF on my PSone Portable. Easy to cut and sand, but it gets abit dusty wile doing this. Quite strong stuff aswell. Hot glue sticks to it really well.

mdf.....hmm. that could work. I also just noticed that the main site sells prefab kits. not sure which way would be cheaper. oh well....i'll try mdf first and see if it works. thanks guys

well, work has begun on the portable. Instead of using mdf, i'm using quarter inch masonite. the system is gonna be pretty squarish. anyway...i'm almost done with the dismantling of the lcd and psone. I'm forgoing the battery at the moment and am using the standard power supply. i should have a working camera at end of next week. seems that hot glue also works great on masonite
