Psone Screen Question

Would a 9v 5400mAh battery be too much for a psone/zenith screen?

Based off of what I've read on this forum 8.5v and anything above will fry it.

Right; anything above 8.5v will fry a PSOne/Zenith 5" screen. You can get a 7808 voltage regulator, which will take in anything ~32v and spit out 8v, providing a safe amount of voltage going into your PSOne screen. The voltage regulator will spit out everything that it eats as heat, which means you won't want to put in a whole lot of voltage (about 12v should usually be the most you deal with with portables, so you should be fine, unless you have 14.8v, generically speaking).

What makes these better than the free ones?
and if i wire 9v in will exactly 8v come out? I couldn't figure out how that part worked:

Voltage Input: DC 4V ~24V
Voltage output:2.5V~18V(less than voltage input)

The other one makes a lot more heat, the switching regulator doesn't.

You put in the voltage you want. Put a meter on the other side and turn the pot until it reads 8v

wow that's awesome. so it's just a really nice voltage regulator that could be used in any number of different projects and the mAh stays the same?

Deffinatly go with the switching regulator hailrazer posted. They are a lot more efficient than linear regulators. The heat made by the linear regulators means energy lost.

hey that switching regulator that i ordered just came in the mail. i hooked it up, but for some reason even when i turned the pot all the way up it would only go to 5.5v.
am i doing something wrong?

What voltage are you putting in it? And are you sure you have the input and outputs right?

the voltage i'm putting in is about 8.9-9v.
i'm positive i got the inputs correct, and didn't know how to wire the outputs but i tested every possible way with the multimeter, and the only way i got anything was the one that went from 0-5.5v.
