ABS Cementing
For large gaps (about a quarter inch or so) you can put duct tape on the under side before cementing correct? This can be removed as well?

Yes sir. Let it dry for around 10 hours or so before removing tape. And larger gaps will need to dry for several days to get permanently hard.
