Someone help me out please

Hello everyone im working on two portables the one i need help with is my gamecube portable umm im going to be using a portable dvd player screen and it takes 7.4 volts 2500mah i am using a 12 volt battery its the initial RB-270 portable dvd player battery would a 7808 regulator be good for this? please help.

First question: Does your portable DVD player have an AV IN jack?

Yes, the 7808 would probably be fine. However, those linear regulators are very inefficient (they waste a lot of power as heat), so it might be worth setting up a switching regulator if you're up for it.

Well i dont how to wire one of those switching regulators so if you know please tell me how but if not i guess im going to use the 7808.Oh and no it dosent have an av in it has an dc in.

If it doesn't have AV in, you can't use it. Unless you can find a point on the motherboard or screen decoder where you can successfully inject an analog video signal, it's not going to work.

DC in is for power.

Also, punctuation is your friend. :wink:

Well i guess ill use a zenith screen and also could tell me how to wire one of those switching regulators please?

+ and - in. Adjust pot to get volts you need. Then + and - out.
