Re: LED mod but no picture now
if you cut too deep and cut a trace then thats possible, try following any traces on the top and bottom of the screen to see if you cut them, i dont know if the ps one screen mboard has a copper layer in the middle, but if it does and you cut into it, its dead
.
Other than that, have a look round the board and make sure you havent knocked of any surface mount components or cut any traces or left blobs of solder around, it may be worth checking you are getting 5 v out of both of the 780 regulators, if there is one that is not giving 5 volts then replace it and it should be fine.

I had another question, If it isnt backlit or led modded, can would you still be able to see a picture?? Kinda like a GBO?
Re: LED mod but no picture now
Yeah, but it's incredibly dark. Darker than the gameboy.
also, there's no middle layer.
also, there's no middle layer.

If you can be very very careful with the LCD, hold the LCD glass by itself in front of a light source (plugged into the screen motherboard, of course), and see if you can see a picture.
And by careful, I mean you life depends on not scratching the LCD glass. Any scratch on the back will be there forever.

Actually, instead of opening it up and risking a scratch, just shine a flashlight on it. That should be bright enough to see if it is displaying a picture.

Re: LED mod but no picture now
in my experience shinning a flash light on it jsut replects straight out and makes it impossible to see any sort of light shinning through, what i ahve done is found a hole where you can see the acrylic layer in the side of the screen and stuck a little led key chain torch in there, its enough light to see at least a protion of the screen.

I meant just lifting it up a little. I usually use a little flashlight to shine from behind too.eagle5953 wrote:Actually, instead of opening it up and risking a scratch, just shine a flashlight on it. That should be bright enough to see if it is displaying a picture.

Can't i removed the top of the board.... i think what happened was when i was trying to remove the ribbon for the screen from the board the first time i misread the book and pried the white plastic thing off the board instead of opening the grey flap. I mustve ripped off a trace or something...
