hey guys
im new to the site and was wondering if someone can help me out with building a ps3 laptop like send me a TUT or something becuase i do a lot of modding but im just getting into advanced modding so if someone could post a tut for me that would be great. ive seen the one at gadgets by ben except its not completed?

No, you certainly CAN learn to make one. There just isn't a tutorial to walk you through it.

There are tutorials, however, explaining individual aspects of console modding; learn these, and you will be able to apply those skills and information towards a difficult and expensive project (such as a PS3 laptop).

If you have specific questions, we are here to help. Just don't expect any hand-holding.

is there anything you could recommend for me to try to help me learn how to do this stuff bttr. i know the inside parts of the 360 and ps3 very well and i know how to fix ylod and rrod ,replacing fans,putting in LEDs and case modifications also modifying controllers and stuff but thats about it

I recommend trying to portablize a console that would be a lot simpler. and then once you've mastered some of the skills required for serious modding, do a PS3 laptop. There are a lot of things that are common when adding a screen and custom case to any system, so that's why I say do something easier and less expensive first. Even get Ben's book or read the work logs here to understand the basics. If you're comfortable with the PS3's internals already, then you'd be able to figure out everything on your own, after that.

thanks, lately ive been reading a lot of posts for the older systems like the ps2,ps1, and gamecube and xbox. and im starting to get a idea on how to do this stuff

Well you can buy broken ps3 that does not read disc or movies and go from there. Could get one on ebay for 50-80 dollars. Work with that takes notes and than construct one with everything working.

I will second starting with another console, something like an n64 or mini snes is fairly easy and a great starting point, mainly what you eill learn is case construction. But id imagine you want something more up to date, the ps1 slim is good, some amazingly good games (yes even now) and its covered n bens book. the wii is laso very good, small motherboard, and the whole thing can be made really really thin with minimal modification. So start with something smaller, draw lots and lots of desgns, make the case last and make the case look nice. If you think your not up to removing/desoldering/extending then dont risk it, its better to have a slightly bigger ps3 P than to have a dead mother board. good luck .
