anything to vga look!

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

I don't think the video is going to be any better than my ATI ALL-In-wonder.

it would be a little, instead of putting it through a pci buss and all that back out to the video card just to display it in a window on your desktop (which always looks like ass from a console, i know, i have done it), it would just go from the console to the box to the monitor...should it a little more decent

What I haven't seen yet is someone take a NGC (or possibly an Xbox), use the digital out, and use some small VGA adapter (Vdigi's is good) and hook it up to a small VGA LCD.
Too bad this can't be smaller: http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?catego ... ts_id=2875&

Actually, most of those generic console to monitor adaptors look worse than a TV card for a PC. They do have the benefit of not needing the PC to be on to work, though.

Using this cable, I am able play my progressive compatible Gamecube games on my CRT monitor. I've tried it on a LCD monitor, and except for the really bad motion blur, it looked good.
