Desoldering Components

So I finally went to work today desoldering all of the unecessary ports/connectors on the n64 board. While doing this I melted of some of the screening near the AV ports. To prevent accidently bridging some of these connections (since they are so close) is it ok to solder to the top side of the board?? Here's what i mean:



I know the board is double sided, but that shouldnt affect what im trying to accomplish. If I remember correctly the reset button can just be removed with no ill effect right? I would also like to hard wire the power switch on any pics on how to do this??

Reset switch can be removed no prob.

Can solder the wires that way.

And for the power switch:

There's 8 pins, arranged in four groups like this.

Solder the four groups together to get this:
