In case you hadn't noticed, I decided to do another portable gamecube while this one was on hold (the Ccube). Its a piece of junk but it was great for preparing me for this portable which will be unlike any portable you have ever seen (trust me  ).

Alas, I am still not experienced enough to undergo this task. SO, I am going to make ANOTHER portable Gamecube that will mimic this one in terms of internal parts (copper heatsink, modified mobo, custom L&R, PS1 screen, speakers, smaller fan(s)?).

AFTER I complete this separate GCP (titled: The Gamecube Envision or Envision for short), I will be ready for this one 8) .

Btw, I'm not a noob anymore! How did that happen? Its only been like 6 months
good luck! there is one thing i'm trying to figure out on mine still and that is how to wire the L&R buttons? how did you wire them cause i have an idea but it fails lol

I have technically not done it yet. But you have two different things to wire up: the potentiometer and the button at the bottom of L/R shaft.

To wire the potentiometer of the trigger, you have 3 wires you must connect to the controller board (just find their traces).

To wire the button, you have 2 wires that you must connect to the controller board.

- so that is 10 wires total, 5 for L and 5 for R. The tricky part is making sure the potentiometer isn't screwed up when you wire the triggers. Oh, and if I got something wrong, someone please tell me.

ok, so basically the hardest part about the L&R buttons is getting the potentiometer moved and put in a good spot?

Yes exactly. It needs to be secured but still able to have the trigger part push down on it. It also depends on the type of controller you have. I have a mini GC controller so it is much easier to keep secured.

HOLY PORTABLES BATMAN, AN UPDATE!?!?!?!?!?

Yes...kind of.

I know its hard to keep up with my weird methods, but I decided to take a break from my 2nd GCP and do some prototype work on my 3rd GCP-yes I am insane.

So I am "probably" going to use some special analog sticks for the controller on this portable. They are clickable analog sticks if that tells you anything.

The clickable function is not necessary, BUT I want to incorporate it into my portable.

My question for you guys is....what should I make the "clicking the joystick" function do?

- act as another start button?
- in game volume control?
- etc

Bring about World Peace.

But seriously, make it a button that really won't affect gameplay if "accidentally" pressed. It would stink for the game to keep pausing or for it to keep going to a map screen on accident.

I don't think anyone presses down on these analog sticks hard enough to make it press the tact switch.
Most people just rest their thumb on it.

How right you are Hailrazer. So many PS2 games have frustrated me because of this. Unless I think of something brilliant (or someone suggests something brilliant), I may just leave it out.

I'd say use it as a Z button, then wherever you put the L aand R triggers will look symmetrical

I don't like to bump this thread without a purpose, but heres a slight update:

With my 1st GCP (the Ccube) nearly finished (simply waiting on parts from China to complete assembly), I have begun work on my 2nd GCP (The Envision). Being very busy these days, I can't guarantee that it will ever get finished (my second one, that is). EDIT: Its finished - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiUI08UITwc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As for this thread? It is on hold until Project P is complete. But The Prestigious is not dead.
