what might cause this power supply to "flicker"

This is a power supply from a broken monitor. I've gotten the monitor to work by attatching the correct dc voltages to the places they have to go, but I'd like to get the power supply working again. I know you can't really tell from a picture, but what might cause this power supply to go on and off really fast? The power led blinks really fast, and the screen just stays blank.



I've checked all the fuses, which seem to be good. The filp side of the board is just a bunch of smd's

At least a couple of the caps are bad. (I see some without metal tops, unless those are different parts.)

those things that look like caps without metal on top are fuses in some sort of rubber insulation.

What about the cap lying down, does it look ok?
Also, I found it hard to believe that those black things would be fuses. More likely they're coils. What does it say on them?
And there seems to be place for two more caps and one more diode. Check on the bottom of the board if it seems like these components were removed.

Check all the transformer windings and diodes for continuity.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure it those things are fuses
I'll do that thing marshallh said to do when I get home and come back with (hopefully good) results.

both of the diodes on top have very little resistance either way I test them. Could that be my problem?

Hmm...

Try checking them with a battery and LED or multimeter set to beep when it detects a short. If you get continuity in both directions, the diodes are bad. (That's how I figured out what went wrong with our old microwave.)
