Well I finally bought a car and I've been modding/customizing it lately. My latest project has been installing a remote car starter by bulldogsecuritysystems.com
I do not believe they make cars to be worked on. It's almost impossible to wire stuff under the dash
Any ways I get the thing wired corectly (I think) and my car alarm starts going off I've got a Ford Taurus 2001 anybody have any experience getting past the alarm systems on cars? Or am I going to have to plop down another $50 dollars to get the bypass? (I don't think I would have started this if I knew that )

My dad's truck had an aftermarket alarm system in it when he got it. We were working on it one day and disconnected the battery. The alarm came on when we reconnected the battery and we had no idea how to disable it. The solution was to cut the wires to the siren, and then find the rest of the alarm system and cut it out. No one really pays attention to car alarms, so if it isn't integrated to anything, you could remove it. My dad said you might even be able to pull a fuse to disable it, so you don't have to rip it out.

I haven't really been modding my Jeep (99' Wrangler with the big ole I-6) lately but im planning on replacing the plastic fenders with some flat tube fenders and build a drawer system in the "trunk" area for extra storage. I have been shopping around for a CB. Been wanting to install a 2" Suspension lift but those run close to 2.5K for a nice kit then you gotta tack on new tires and wheels which you need 5 of cause of the full size spare. Needs a roof rack for when I go camping so I can stick my canoe or sailboat on top. Lots of other stuff on my list.

I have added a Transmission cooler and temp gauge cause I do allot of towing of boats and the auto tranny was getting cooked during the summer.

As far as I know my car as the factory alarm... the strange thing is I have one of the remote door lock key things and when I use that I can't make the alarm go off (You know using the key like the old fashioned way...) But as soon as I install this... Blongggg,Blonggg,Blongggg,
I thought about disconnecting the horn but the remote start didn't work anyways... strange thing was turning on parking lights shut the horn off

You're better off having a dealer install the remote starter for you. My dad tried to install one in our old '05 Grand Am, but it was a pain in the butt to get it to even turn the lights on. (Just one of many, many reasons we dumped that car... )

No kidding. My car ('99 Saturn SL) obviously had the dash apart at once point; there are missing clips and screws in various places. The center console area was really messed up; almost every clip was broken and half the fasteners were gone. (Between the previous owners getting it in an accident and not installing the aftermarket radio properly... Luckily they used a wire adapter, instead of cutting the original connector off the dash harness.) Last year I got fed up and rebuilt most of the missing support bits, secured the radio (it was sitting loose with just a couple folded metal tabs keeping it in place ), and now it doesn't rattle nearly as much as it used to!

Stark contrast to the old 1974 D200 pickup we have kicking around. It's got the slant-6 engine designed in the 50s, 1-barrel carb, manual transmission, straight exhaust, and no options (aside from an aftermarket AM/FM stereo cassette player and power steering). You could probably take that whole truck apart with a philips-head screwdriver if you wanted to.

The Jeeps wiring is fairly straight forward behind the dash. Granted I have zero options for that car besides airbags (No ABS/cruise/locks ect..). To install that temp gauge I took the power from the cig lighter and the light power from the bulb in the shifter. Sending wire went up the shifter. Bolted the ground to the tub.

When did you get the car? Make sure you don't go too crazy with the mods until you're sure the car is in good running condition. Better to spend money making it run than to have a car with lots of goodies that can't go anywhere.

oh, it just means it drives me insane when i see people driving around and their kids are pacified by the movie playing on their screen. this whole constant input thing is gonna screw the world. and, you shouldnt give a crap if i respect you, but whatever. BTW, im kinda baked, so if i seem a liddle off..
