llamma sells new sammies.. I would presonally pick the Hitachi/LG drive. a single wire grounding can add full DVD support without doing a POT tweak and killing your drive in 3 weeks....
If you are running a modded xbox you can add run PC drive into XBMC and it should play burnt games.. you can also in that case just copy halo to your HDD...
If, for whatever reason, you don't have a modded xbox, I suggest modding it and copying your games to a larger HDD. This will extend the life of your new DVD drive since it will likely be one of the last that will be found without breaking into the smithsonian..

Re: Xbox DVD Drive
I may be willing to part with my LG drive, PM me for details. The only problem is that you will need to modify your xbox case to make it fit (unless you are using or building a custom case).
Re: Xbox DVD Drive
before you buy someone else's DVD drive a word of warning. PC DVD drives can be very LOUD during game play. Think, airplane loud. I have an LG modded drive too...

Re: Xbox DVD Drive
I don't think it is very loud, I think that my case fan is louder than it is. But that's just personal opinion
