magnetic damage to my harddrive?

Post by collinE »

I took a harddrive out of it's case and set it on top of the 360 DVD player. When I went to pick it back up a day later, I felt the magnets from each pulling eachother. Did I mess up the harddrive?

I know the DVD player's magnet is pretty weak compared to the one in the harddrive, but I'm still worried and I have no way to test it at the moment

I toss neodymium magnets around my laptop all the time. I dont think Its really a concern, they are shielded right? I doubt you are the first person to put a hard drive on a DVD player.

It is probably fine, but the only way to be sure about it to plug it in and see if it still works.
