replacing a capacitor

ok so i accidentally broke the 270uf capacitor off on my rev-c GC board, and don't have another 270uf capacitor to replace it. are there any alternatives instead of buying a new cap?

Depending on where it is, you might be okay without it.

yeah i already tried starting it without it and all i got was the LED coming on then immediately turning off

270 uf is very big for a capacitor being used for logic , so its probably something to do with smoothing a power line or providing some extra oomf on boot up. I have no experience with this board at all , but all i can suggest is replacing it with one as close to the original value as you can find. It does worry me a bit hat it dosent work at all with out it. Failing this , try and put a multimiter on the + and - of the capacitor and put main power input on a variable power supply (presuming it runs on 5 v) slowly ramp up the power and see if the volatge read on the capacitor leeds goes up with it, this should tell you whether its put staright across the power input to smooth it or provide a little extra power for the eeprom or something that needs power a second or 2 after its turned off.
