K so everything seemed alright with my project however my PSOne screen stays on for a matter of 10 seconds and then it darkens, the picture is still there, but its just really dark, any idea what would cause that?
Question 2: How many volts is the maximum the PSOne screen can handle with the PTH08080WAZ connected?
A few questions, sorry I'm a NOOB.

Whenever you give us a question the more information you give us the better the chance that we can help you. For example if you told us that you were running your screen from batteries then the most likely cause is that they aren't powerful enough or not charged.
Question 2 is a bit of a mystery. For the large majority of projects you probably won't be regulating the power to the screen. After all it is at the right voltage for the large majority of batteries. You can't use the PTH08808080808WASUP (or whatever it is) to supply ~7.2V because it won't go much above 5V. What you want to do is just connect your battery straight to the screen (same goes for power supply) only if it is between 7.2 and 8V. From bitter experience anything above 9V will fry it but the lower the voltage towards 7.2V you input the more efficient it will be anyway because the screen does some linear regulation.
I hope that answered your question but somehow I doubt it.

I would check the amps/volts you are getting off the battery, the screen will get dimmer if the screen isn't getting enough amps from the battery. on the back of the screen board there is 7.5v silk screened beside the power pin. so 7.5v is the recommended amount.afreihat wrote:K so everything seemed alright with my project however my PSOne screen stays on for a matter of 10 seconds and then it darkens, the picture is still there, but its just really dark, any idea what would cause that?

ok well, you guys have helped, I think the problem may be that the wiring is incorrect. I wish I had it in front of me right now so I could give you guys more details, but its actually been a few of us working on it, and I'm not too sure what the others have done.
