Making a Dualshock PS360 controller

And I have a quick question about the rumble. would I be able to take the rumble from the 360 controller and put it on the PS3 controllers board. With a little extention to the wires the Rumble would then fit into the controller without modification. And I just got to the point where I need to start putting on switches and whatnot...

Kind of scary actually, this is my first project like this ever. and well I've NEVER soldered before. But I looked at some youtube videos and know about pre-tinning and such. I figure I'll practice on the 360 board for a tiny bit before I move onto the thing I need to get right.

Anyways, I figure it should work to just switch the rumble from controller to controller. Both have a red and black wire, power/ground???I'm just not sure if one needs more power then the other to run, maybe it would mess something up trying to draw this power? I can't see why it would though. Also I accidentally ripped the power wire off on of the rumble things already. these wires are FAR more fragile then the car stereo stuff I work with.

Sadly with car stereo I just use butt splices or tie and tape, I prefer the latter as it means I don't have to cut the wires later on down the road.





Also I plan on modifying the case to fit the battery better then Bens original controller. Instead of just cutting a hole in the back and shoving the battery in there. I'm gonna cut the back right off and flare it out a bit to make room for it. This will be cleaner and make it so the battery case isn't in the way of your fingers while holding the controller. Now to cover up my handy work with the plastic I'll need to paint the back piece, possibly the front as well to make it look normal. Has anybody painted a controller then used it before? Does the oil on your hand break the paint down and turn you all colorful? or would a few coats of clear stop this from happening?

Any help muchly appreciated, I'll try to upload photos of the finished project. Maybe a few of my progress.

yes you can wire up the rumble motors that way, it doesn't matter which wire goes to which as long as its a circuit

Yeah, that's what I figured. The 360 rumble looks like it would be more powerful or rumbly as well. It has bigger weights on it. Found myself a de-solder kit today and got everything apart now. But I can't for the life of me find any tact switches in town. This is the only thing I'm missing to complete this project.
