psone screen ground and 7.5v question

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

psone screen ground and 7.5v question

Post by jay_sison »

Hi guys,

we are doing a project for school and it is based on a nintendo 64 embedded on a psone screen. we recently experienced a problem as one of my group members accidentally did the switcharoo between the 7.5 V and the ground, meaning he supplied 7.5V to pin 2 and put ground on pin 1. It was originally working before this mishap happened. Is it safe to say that the screen is now officially bricked?

Most likely it can be fixed.
If you somehow overload or fry the PSOne screen, you can jump a fuse to fix it, just like with most pocket TVs. The fuse is shown in Figure 4-30. Desolder it and put a bit of solder in its place if your screen stops working.

Before I try that, I just want to let you guys know that the screen flickers at first when you put power. We then just noticed that the screen is really dark because we can barely see the bars when you adjust the volume and brightness. That means the screen is still functional but just really dark.

Oh then you need to do this :
If you cant get a PSone screen to work this might fix it:
(This is if your screen powers up but goes blank.)

The pics show exactly where the wire is connected. Front side to the first pin on the right of the longest connector.
back side to the left leg of the 7805.

The hole where the wire needs to go and the connectors should give you an idea where everything is.
