Hey guys I have question that maybe someone on here could answer. I have a PS3 that got the dreaded firmware error loop. I called Sony and they wanted me to pay $150 to fix it. I told the lady about how Microsoft keeps replacing my Xbox 360 every time it breaks for free and it is a launch model. She put me on hold for about 5 minutes and then came back and said that they would do a one time only goodwill repair/replacement and they would send me a box.
So I decided to take the PS3 out of the cabinet and clean the dust off and get it ready when I noticed that on the warranty sticker there were a couple of voids showing through. This unit has never been opened at all, and I have never ever tried to peel it off. So I do not understand this. Has this happend to anyone before and also do you guys still think they will still fix it since it is out of warranty anyway? She never asked me about the sticker on the phone.

Re: ps3 warranty question
I dunno but I'd make sure to ask first, because palmertech had a broken ds he sent in and when ninty got it they told him it was theirs now since the warranty had been broken, apparently it was in the EULA that they had that right or some crap.
So I'd just make sure it's still valid before you send it in.
Obviously Sony is not Ninty but you never know, right?

Well I have heard that the worst they would do was send it back if sticker was gone but since it is not under warranty anyway and it is being sent in as if I paid 150 surely they would fix it.

Picture please.
If there's only a couple spots where it says "void" but it's intact the plastic seam, you should be fine.

Wait, did you say the console is not under warranty as of now anyway?
Then I don't think it matters if the warranty sticker is broken or not.
Well maybe...
I dunno.

Nope, They don't really care, sent mine in with a couple VOIDS coming through, as long as the sticker isn't broken or removed it should be fine.

Re: ps3 warranty question
Wow good luck. I tried for 10 minutes to convince a guy to fix my PS3 ( I bought over a year ago...for $280, broken) and he wasn't really interested in bargaining. I bought my 360 broken for $180 about 2.5 years ago and Microsoft has cheerfully repaired it twice. Nintendo was the king though. I bought a DS when it wasn't even a year old and it was smashed, they sent me a new one. Same with that Wii I bought back in may....
For my ps3 I opened it up and fixed it...#$#$ing $150? F-you sony.

The sticker is not torn and has not been peeled off.
