how reliable are wires on an ethernet cable?

ok so i have a few 65' ethernet cables i tore up for the wires, my question is how reliable would they be when relocating a NES cart slot?

Well if your cable is anything like mine was, it is extremely rigid. I tried to relocate a SNES slot with some and it worked, but the wires would not bend and I was unable to get the slot into a good position.

If you want proof that is a bad idea, here is a pic of my very first attempt ever at a cart slot relocation. I used ethernet cable to do so, and ended up having to redo it.

mine bend pretty well, guess i won't have to buy wire for a while!

When relocating a cartridge slot, use ribbon cable, no exceptions. That way the cables are held together which is good both for mechanical stability and for getting the wires in the right order and right length. And as pointed out, ethernet cables are rigid and tend to want to bend into the shape it had when the cable was coiled.
