Casio tv400t not working

I got a Casio tv400t lcd tv from ebay today. I put 4 aa batteries in it and I cant get a picture. The batteries are rechargables that I had in my Amstrad NC100 computer. They were working in that. I get a green screen. Sometimes goes white with horizontal lines across the screen. Ive tried it on a power adapter. It just looks the same. Theres no sign of any red line to signify tuning.
I live in Scotland and theres still analogue tv broadcast here. I was watching it on my Philips tv this morning.

I noticed that the color control on the side of it is the same as the color control on my Sega Game Gears TV tuner. Im going to recap the Sega to get a better picture and sound.
Is that whats needed on the Casio too?

Have you checked the fuse yet? It should be near where the ac adapter plugs in. Try jumping it with a piece of wire.

I charged a set of batteries and got it to work, sometimes. Even though its bad weater here. I do notice there a strong smell coming from it. Which I heard might be capicitors breaking down.
I tried to get the back off it. Theres 3 tiny Phillips screws, and a large one that holds the chrome antenna on. I got the antenna screw off, and 1 tiny screw. But the others are really tight. Ive got a set of jewelers screwdrivers, and lots of other tools. And am used to taking things to bits. Sometimes they even go back together again
I noticed that the chrome antenna is beside the 3.5mm EXT ANT socket. Would that be a radio frequncy socket? And so how do I get a thick coaxial antenna cable to attach to a 3.5mm jack plug? I was hoping its a composite video socket. So I can get an ok picture with my games systems
