somethings wrong with my L & R buttons...

Post by Tchay »

Sorry to make another topic. I guess people aren't looking in this section much lately.

I rewired both joysticks for my minicontroller board. Everything works fine except that when I am playing smash bros, I cant dodge in mid air...? Its strange considering that L and R work perfectly fine otherwise. I can even roll around with L and R so I know the buttons are synced. I only have one wire for ground per joy stick....could that be it? Any insight is appreciated.

EDIT: I'm sick of making new topics, so heres another question: is wire glue useful at all? http://cgi.ebay.com/Rapid-Fire-NO-Solde ... 4ceb974786" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I´m sorry, probably the answer is late (I´m not being very active actually), but I will try ^^

the gamecube L and R buttoms from the gamecube, are the most complex buttoms on the GC controller.

each have a potentiometer and when you push them fully, it push a small and hidden buttom hidden behind the the plastic wich move the potentiometer, so it basically have a potentioneter and a hidden buttom

I found a nice way to test them works.

you need two games

super smash bross melee and metroid prime

for test just the buttoms behind the potentiometers , you must separate the buttoms temporally from the potentiometers, then, you can enter at the SSBM trophies selection, and when the trophies are in 3D view (just one per one) you can push the L/R buttoms (just buttoms, not potentiometers)

if works, it should go previus/next trophie with L/R buttoms

for testing the potentiometers, you will need metroid prime

just enter in game, and when you see the samus cannon (in game)

test the potentiometers, the R potentiometer should put a hand over the cannon and with the joystick you will be able to move just the cannon to aim a target.

about the L potentioneter, while you press it, a small cross should appear in the middle of the screen.

oh, I forgot to say, you will need to get the potentiometers at the initial/default position at the gamecube startup, or the "zero" or "default" position will be cuarent, and you will have some troubles.

I remember i had a mistake connecting the potentiometers while reallocationg, and I saw smoke on them, I had to replace at least 1 potentiometer due that, (glad I had several controllers taken appart hehe)

so if them apear not working after several tests , try to replace them (just if you reallocated them OFC ^^)

Thanks Kasar! My L and R work great; its just that in Smash Bros Melee, I cannot dodge in midair (like when you press L or R when in mid air - it causes you to dodge). Otherwise they work normally.....?

well, If you are unable to dodge in the air in melee, definitly there is something weird with your moded controller.

I reallocated L and R buttoms at my portable and I can dodge on melee ^^

if you are able to do the tests I said, it may help to detect the issue :P
