Fmylife again
ive gone through 6 n64 boards, around 2000 soldering connections, and three months of my spare time to find out that the game i've been using to test the cart slot with is broken
Fmylife
on a plus note testing with a different game worked :\
no 2
recently i semi completed a n64p, only to decide it needed more ventilation so i took to the dremel and chipped away a small vent at th back of the case, in doing so i severed half the wires for the cart slot relocaton, after many hours of reconnecting it still didnt work....sooo i started a new board and decided to clean up the wires for the controller (it was a bit of a birds nest). by the end i found out the controller want working, troubleshooted with that for hours. only to decide it was stuffed. 3 controllers later and many many hours i decided that it could possibly be the wire, tried a new n64 controller plug wire thing and..it freakin worked.....turns out one of the pins of the other one was screwed.
:\
well im on holidays so ill probably finish up the n64p by tomorrow

Texting while intoxicated is a branch of it. It's hilarious
EDIT: WARNING site may have pornographic material. Although it's not supposed to iirc. I only have it for iPod Touch, and don't load the pictures.

Re: Fmylife
It is pretty funny, I just kinda fail to see why you would just keep going. Most people would just give up after a few "failed" tries.
Does that mean you have 6 N64's ready for portablizing?

Re: Fmylife
i have 6 mobos ready for portabilizing, i only really have al the required stuff to make two,
it had taken up all my spare time for ages , i just kept thinking maybe i screwed up this connection so i tried again etc until i assumed the board was fried. 6 boards and three months later i thought screw it, so i plugged in my last "complete unbroken into n64" and tried to play goldeneye, nothing, quake II...nothing....so i dug into the cupboard and pulled out mario tennis and it worked. put it into the board id recently relocated and boom, it worked..
i was both happy and pissed off at the same time, now i can work on new problems
the only real reason i kept going was because the first board i ever relocated worked like a charm, except i broke it trying to make it too small (dremel happy), and me and a few friends have a huge roadtrip planned for early next year

Today, I had started desoldering my DVD drive connector on my gamecube, but I perused fmylife.com for about an hour when palmertech presented me with a link to it. During this time, I left my desoldering iron plugged in and on the stand. In a fervor I didn't pay attention to the ziploc bag I set the iron tip on top of. My room now smells like burned plastic. FML.

Re: Fmylife
^^yay a benheck fmylife thread
well im upto times two, i dug out the screen that im using for the portable and its a third party psone screen (5 inch sharp lcd) 5.4" screen. instead of one big mobo it has many little ones for each thing, being the highly intelligent man i am i unplugged everything for storage (theres about 10 groups of wires that go from board to board). so nowi have to try and figure out how to put the bloody thing together without blowing it and to make things worse i broke a 24pin connector which means i now have 48 more smt soldering connections ahead of me

Re: Fmylife again
no 3
recently i semi completed a n64p, only to decide it needed more ventilation so i took to the dremel and chipped away a small vent at th back of the case, in doing so i severed half the wires for the cart slot relocaton, after many hours of reconnecting it still didnt work....sooo i started a new board and decided to clean up the wires for the controller (it was a bit of a birds nest). by the end i found out the controller want working, troubleshooted with that for hours. only to decide it was stuffed. 3 controllers later and many many hours i decided that it could possibly be the wire, tried a new n64 controller plug wire thing and..it freakin worked.....turns out one of the pins of the other one was screwed.
:\
well im on holidays so ill probably finish up the n64p by tomorrow
