I decided to finally make a portable system since I have some free time and I think it would be fun to try out. The only thing is I'm probably going to need a little help along the way when building it. I have an old SNES that I'm using, and it's not a mini. Yes I know a mini is easier, this is what I have and it's what I'm using.
I bought a zenith 5" xbox screen to use for the project since it was cheaper than a PSOne screen (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009Y ... oh_product" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). It came in the mail today and when I was unscrewing it I noticed that the AV IN port (which is like a headphone jack) had 4 wires connecting to it: a red, black, white and yellow one. What do you think each of them does, since I'm assuming two are for the speakers, one is video, and I'm unsure of the last.
Also, what type of batteries would you suggest using for this? I want something that's easy to charge and won't blow up if unattended, especially if I charge it overnight, and will let me play games while charging.
If you ever need me to take pictures of something just let me know, since I can borrow a camera from someone.

the zenith screen is just a repackaged psone screen, with all the same internals. Don't worry.

I thought they were similar, I wasn't sure if they were exactly the same or not. I guess under $30 was an awesome deal for it!

It has a schematic of what I believe is original an SNES. I have a version 2 SNES, but not a mini, so there may be a few things off, but I think it's fairly accurate. If nothing else I can find out what some of the chips do that I wouldn't be able to figure out otherwise.
Ok I have a bit of a problem. I was trying to remove some stuff on the board that I didn't think I'd need, like the expansion port and the RF Out. When removing the RF out I think I mistakenly burned out 2 small chips, or whatever they're called, labeled C22 and C76. They were next to where I was supposed to desolder the 4 pins for the RF Out but I thought it was a part of that. I haven't tested the SNES since I can't really do that right now, but I was wondering if you thought that the SNES was ruined because of that. If it's just used for the RF Out I can probably live without it, I'll just have to connect the screen to the Multi Out.
Well I better get back to work. I have a 62 pin connector to remove! This should be fun.

Tried to remove the 62 pin connector. Desoldered it as much as I could triple checking to make sure there wasn't any solder on any of the pins, and very carefully pulled out the connector. And some pins still got stuck in there. And when I mean some I mean about 30. I guess I might as well order a new connector since I don't think that's repairable at this point. How do you guys even pull out one of those? Is it always this hard to do it, or do you just have a stack of 62 pin connectors and don't even worry about breaking them?
Also where can I find one that isn't a plug and play one, or will that work even though I need to solder it into my SNES?
Re-re edit: On second thought it's more cost effective to get an snes mini on ebay for around $20 and shipping (maybe a little more if I get one that comes with games or controllers). I think I'll do that instead. Goodbye broken SNES. Sorry I ruined a perfectly good system.
Re-re-re edit: Looks like this might be on hold for now. I was doing something on my computer when I got some sort of spyware on it. When trying to fix that my computer gave me a blue screen error on login, so now I have to get an external hard drive to save all my stuff so I can reinstall Windows and fix that. I can still log in using debug mode, but I don't want to do that forever. Plus I can use the external even if I get a new computer at some point so it's a good investment.
