using the psOne screen with a version 13 ps2 slim(SCPH70001)

hi im making a ps2 prtable, and i have two ps2 to work with; i have already started on the newer, version 16 (SCPH7900a) but am having hard time running backup of my games from a usb so i can just take out the dvd drive and make it smaller.

i figured i will use the ver 13 one instead because it is easier to run backups, but when i try to power the system and the screen using one power source as i can with the newer ps2 ver, it wont power up...

im really a noob at all this so i want to do little rewiring things as possible and when i could power the screen and the ps2 like you can a psOne i was really great full.
is there any idea as to how i can power the screen and the ps2 ver 13? if i give it more volt, (8.5 volt) would it blow the fuse of the screen?

any suggestions or comments would be great

It depends on the screens normal voltage. Also, if you're are making a legit portable, it will probably require a lot of rewiring, but you get used to it after a while

As for your other questions, I don't know a whole lot about the PS2 so I can't help you there...

i managed to get the screen and the ps2 going with one DC input, im waiting for my NiMH batteries from ebay to arrive so i can make a 7.5 ( or even lower volt) battery pack for the thing. Im gonna see if i can find the screen's normal volt somewhere on Ben Heck's book...
i so far have not needed to rewire somehow... if the battery works all i have to do is attach the LED to the screen and im set to go (gonna do the LED thing soon... might use different power for LED to avoid soldering on screen, dont want to brake it )

I would hold off on hooking up power to the screen and LED until you know for sure what the safe voltage is and know how to reduce the voltage to a safe amount for the screen; don't want to burn it out. Sorry I can't help you more, I am still learning about screen voltages myself actually (waiting on a screen coming all the way from China!).

im actually gonna have a different power source for the LED backlight for the screen as i really dont want to solder (three AAA batteries with an on off control, look at your dollar store for something to use, MUCH cheaper than online stuff IMO)

i dont think using lower voltage than rated would wreck anything, it just wont turn on?... i think

i was lucky enough to get a screen on off my local Kijiji site

Yeah you're right. Lower voltage isn't bad as long as you know its lower. Lol, once again, I'm sorry I can't help you more. This section of the website has been pretty dead lately. VETERANS, GET IN HERE PLEASE!
