sending ringtones to phones

i've got verizon, and unlimited texting, but I'm not sure if that covers all types of data sent in message form. Does anybody know if I can use one of those online sites to send myself a ringtone, or will verizon charge me?

I just found a way to email it to myself. I used something not many use to find out this info its new and its called GOOGLE
I use it, and not many I hope we can all learn to use it one day

Most "ringtones" are just MIDIs and MP3s anyway.

What model is your phone? That's more of a deciding factor than your carrier.

I have an LG 600 through TracFone, and it can use MIDI files as ringtones. They can be found all over the web for free, and then they can easily be transferred to the phone over Bluetooth.

well, GOOGLE wasn't very helpful, so I came here.

Its an lg vx5500, it doesn't have any external memory, and the usb cable on it is some kind of really flat usb cord I don't have right now. I know if plays midi files.

Google helped me, try sending it to your phone as an email

What works for me is download ringtones off of zedge.net (legit, free, no spyware etc) transfer the mp3 to my phones "sounds" folder either through usb cable or micro sd. Then then send the mp3 as a sound to yourself through a picture message. Then once you receive it, save it as a ringtone.

AFAIK it works on my phone VX10000(voyager) and my brothers chocolate 2 (VX8550?)

Easy to use, and free! Pick your Carrier, type in your phone #, upload your file (check supported file types), and then give it a name(Short name).

What it will do is send you a text message, from the text message it will have a link, your phone should allow you to follow this link through your text message options (requires you to have web access on your phone). When the link has loaded there will be a download button on the page, just use that and the download should start. Keep in mind most phones will warn you about the un-official software or whatnot your downloading, just accept it. Your phone should automatically save your ringtone in the correct folder in your phone in which you can enable it as a ringtone from your settings.

First off when you go to a site that offers to send ringtones to your phone read their disclaimer. Some sights just use standard texting, and yeah for you that would be covered under your phone plan. However there are sites that do tell you that you will be charged a fee, and this can vary greatly. So be sure to read.

Me I have a BlackJack II, and typically if I have a ringtones send to my phone it's from a friend. Otherwise I go to the sites that offer a download, and then save them to my MicroSD card and upload them that way to my phone. Yes it is a bit more of a hassle I would suppose, but I find it easier then have to go to sites that offer to send it and look to be sure they don't charge me a fee.
