I haven't gotten my PSOne yet and I have a question before I do. I was wondering if its possible to connect (solder) a parallel port to the psone motherboard? I have a VCD player mod that I was thinking about adding to my portable. Thanks for the help.

Hmm... I can't find any place that stills sells the kit to retrofit a parallel port to a PSOne anymore.
Interesting idea about using a VCD cart, makes the player serve another purpose. Get one of the carts that plays VCD and MP3 and you've got something fairly usefull. Only problem is that most VCD carts have their own A/V out, and not RGB or outputing through the PS itself. Would mean you'd have to have another connection to the screen besides the PSOne RGB.

You can buy an entirely internal VCD movie card for the PSone. Lik-Sang used to sell one, but they have no more left in stock.
It unfortunately suffers from the same problem as the cartridges mentioned by the above poster, however - it will not output an RGB signal.
