Weird Linux problem...

I installed Fedora Core 3 on my computer, and as long as I'm using it, it works ok. However, if I leave for maybe an hour or so and come back, then it will be kind of like it's frozen, but not entirely. I can still move the pointer, but clicking on the menu bar or any programs I had open does nothing. I also tried many key combinations...nothing. I can't figure out what could be causing this.

I've had something simalar with my linux system, it would slow down dramaticly if I let it idol for a long time (couple of hours). If you could tell us what hardware its running on, that might be the problem.

Here is what I have:

Athlon XP 1.24 GHz
512 MB RAM
120 GB Hard Drive

I've had that problem before, but it was only after having my old 450mhz machine on for 2 months straight. Maybe the ram is getting filled when not in use.

That sounds like it may be the problem. For some reason, the RAM will dump when you are using it, but not when it is idle. Try using something like MemTurbo(yes, I know it is windows, but there must be some programs out there for linux).
