Why is this always asked. It depends on how much you can buy things for.

PS3 ---- ???
Xbox 360 --- ???
Controller ---- ???
Keyboard --- ???
Lcd --- ???
switches, buttons, etc --- ???
Plastic or metal laptop pieces --- ???

See it's really up to your buying skills. Will you buy new, or used. Ebay or retail, etc.

It's not a question anyone can answer for you.

Yep hes right it does take dedication plus the worse of all Money even though im almost finished with mines..and yes geeks is the ultimate place to start their lcds are so cheap im usin a 19 inch i bought from them for 90 buks the worse is that it doesnt support 1080p. Have fun with with the desolder part and not get to impatient going through that process not to break any data pins.

I say it's good for a first time 360/PS3 laptop. It already has the ports you need so you won't really need any pinouts for A/V. I wonder if that limits how thin it can be since it's an actual HDTV and not a monitor like is usually used.

I really think you could take advantage of the smaller size and do a PS3 slim. You couldn't get a 360 laptop too much smaller than with a 17" so make use of that small screen!
