What are some MUST HAVE games for Sega Genesis?

Rocket Knight Adventures
Phantasy Star 2 and 4
Shining Force
Golden Axe 3
Mortal Kombat (3)
Moonwalker (Nobody has mentioned MOONWALKER?)
Vectorman
Aero Blasters (Turbografx-16 version is better)
Street Fighter 2 (There are tons of versions of this, I think)
Mega Bomberman
Wounderboy 2
Ys 3
Shinobi 3
Castlevania
Zero Wing (Hardest shooter you will ever play)
Ghouls and Ghosts
Alien Crush

There's also a (unofficial?) port of Mega Man X3 for the Genesis. Anyway, get all of these games, they are all good.

Battletech---this game was kicka$$ for a mech game in the day.

General Chaos---This was stupid fun,once all of us got the controls down it was one of the best multi-player games ever.

Herzog Zwei---This game was fun in 1 or 2 player mode....First RTS I actually liked.

Herzog Zwei is RTS? I guess I've only seen the box and figured it was vertical shooter like Raiden haha.

Zero Wing (Hardest shooter you will ever play)

It's a good game but no where near the difficulty of the more recent bullet-hell shooters (Mushimesama Futari, Batsugun, Donpachi, etc)

bullet hell games (including touhou) are pretty much in a class of their own, not really comparable to the old style of scrolling shooter

Yeah I know I'm just saying that Zero Wing isn't the hardest ever, though I suppose I should have chosen an example from around the same era, Recca or R-Type or something (maybe even Xevious lol I have the hardest time ever with that game)

Yeah the box is decieving, you build all the units and you can use the jet as a transport to drop off infantry or tanks or motorcycles. I think its available on an emulator.

Since nobody seems to have mentioned it, I'm going to recommend Space Invaders '91. You remember Space Invaders, right? Well, add vastly improved graphics, a thumping soundtrack by Zuntata, new enemy formations, and devastating weapons (H-Beam 4 Life, yo), and you've got Space Invaders '91. That's not to be confused with the arcade title Super Space Invaders '91 by the way... they're two separate games.
