Re: dremcast portable dreamjog
I don't think anyone will make a Youtube tutorial... I'll try, but I am too starting on a Dreamcast Portable. But since this is my first portable, this will be a learning experience, hence I probably won't make a tutorial when I am still a beginner. But really, you don't need a Youtube tutorial. Just look around the site, all the information you need is here, and if you have some questions, just ask. The community here is very friendly, so don't be afraid
Also, be prepared for having to buy all the components you need to make a portable. I needed to buy EVERYTHING, from the tools to the parts needed to make a Dreamcast portable. I'll try to compile a list for you.
Dreamcast components:
1. First of all, you need a screen, a PSone Screen is the most popular portablizing screen, with lots of info on it. Another screen you can get would be this one, http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14781" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's low power, 3.5 inches, and it's thin. Price: 50-65 dollars
2. You also need a battery, search around on the web for a 12V battery that has about 5000mAH. Price: It depends, but may be more than 20 bucks.
3. Although not needed, a picoPSU-120w could really help by allowing the portable to be smaller and keep it cooler. It should replace the normal stock PSU in your Dreamcast. Price: 40-50 dollars
4. A controller to split apart, a good controller that is already split would be the Quantum dreamcast controller, they're cheap if you can find them on Ebay. Price: 5-10 dollars.
Tools:
1. 15w or 25w Soldering Iron; Price: about 20 dollars
2. Desoldering iron/vacuum/braid - 2 to 15 dollars
3. Rosin Core Soldering wire - about 1 to 2 bucks
I'll add more later, since I am tired, but you can see that it can get pretty expensive, luckily, if you can borrow some of those tools from someone else, then you're lucky
Good luck on your portable!

Re: dremcast portable dreamjog
thanks but i live in engaland do you know where i could get a screen for the uk
to portable and beyond
Re: dremcast portable dreamjog
Dealextreme deliver worldwide, even the UK. Or if you fancy a gamble, order one of these. Most the time you get sent a recased PSone screen for cheap or a not so good one. But for £20, its worth it.

See, this is what I want to hear. Kids asking for Dreamcasts rather than PS3's for their birthdays. SEGA FTW! (I adore dreamcast. Quickest way to my heart is through dreamcast.)

cant use computer screens. they are useless for a portable. a laptop is different, but they are dirt cheap everywhere.D3MONOOB wrote:i also live in the uk if u live in the uk if u need a screen and live in the london area i kno several places u get good lcd screens for dirt cheap there i dunno about ps1 lcds but flat computer lcds are in abundunce

Re: dremcast portable dreamjog
yes, but not for a portable. they are all too big. (for all intents and purposes, that is. i know you can buy small vga screens, but its not really worth it.)DK wrote:You can use a computer screen, well for a Dreamcast, It outputs VGA
now, for a laptop, its a different story.
